Share your commute to share the savings
COMMUTERS in Oxfordshire could save more than £1,900 a year by joining the county’s lift sharing network, Liftshare.com.
According to Oxfordshire County Council who are promoting the scheme during Life Share Week, which runs from 7-11 October, figures show that 9,667 people have signed up to Oxfordshire Liftshare and there are over 8,000 people sharing regular journeys to and from work, helping cut congestion, petrol bills and emissions in the process.
OCC states: ” Members have been sharing thousands of journeys since the scheme began in 2010, saving more than 9,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide from Oxfordshire’s transport emissions. If you haven’t tried lift sharing yet then this week, National Car Share Week, could be the ideal time to give it a go.”

by 1%
2. The UK is the third most expensive place to buy diesel in the world
3. There are 1 million car seats available to share in Britain every day on the Liftshare.com network
4. According to the AA the average British family spends more on fuel than they do on food
5. 33 million Brits are already sharing something – from lifts to work, computers, gardens, food and even spare rooms and a further 14 million would consider it (Source: Opinium, May 2013)
