Busy Thame Lions raised over £3K for charities
THAME and District Lions were very busy over the Christmas period and raised over £3000 for local charities. They organised a Santa Sleigh to visit homes around Oxford, Santa and bucket shakes Asda in Wheatley and Sainsburys in Thame, sold mulled wine at the switching on of the Thame Christmas lights (see picture), knitted and sold Christmas table decorations, Chocolate Santas raffles in local pubs, health centres and clubs and a Christmas hamper raflle.
As if that wasn’t enough they also treated 60 elderly folk to a Sunday tea followed by the Thame Christmas pantomime, arranged 22 ex-cabin crew blankets to be given to a Homeless Refuge in Oxford, provided transport to Thame Widows Club members and assisted in the Florence House Santa Dash.
Thame Lions are actively seeking new members and helpers. If you would like to make a difference to the local community, then you are invited to go along and meet Thame Lions at Thame Football Club every first Wednesday in the month.
Or perhaps if you would like to know more about becoming a helper for Thame Lions, call the membership chairman, Alan Chandler on 07831 372711
