Nation Flocks to Oxford to Hear Local Band (Contributed)
A Thame band is drawing in nationwide crowds for what promises to be a gig crammed with ?screaming guitar solos and epic thunderous melody lines?!
Red Dawn will be headlining ?Theatre of Dreams?, at the Old Fire Station Studio Theatre in Oxford. Organised by the band, the gig has attracted followers from as far as Cheshire, Manchester and Leeds.
Based in Thame, Red Dawn has been playing together for three years. In October 2004 the line-up changed when vocalist Craig Finlay and synth player George Walker joined Pete Brannan and Mark Truedale on lead guitar, bass player Toby Cross and drummer Loz Dyer.
With influences such as Iron Maiden, Metallica and Dragonforce, Red Dawn?s sound is mainly heavy/power metal. With the return of Iron Maiden to the charts, this type of music is increasingly popular. Pete Brannan, one of the band founders, commented: ?It?s great to see so many warriors of metal, it?s time to show the world heavy metal is here to stay and will never die!?
Since Craig and George joined in 2004 Red Dawn have experimented with new sounds, progressing our music considerably and increasing our fan base. Theatre of Dreams will provide a platform to share this music with both dedicated and new followers of heavy and power metal.
Red Dawn?s style dabbles with metal incorporating Celtic, Folk and Pirate! Future plans include collaboration with a full 80 piece orchestra for another gig in Oxford.
Theatre of Dreams is on the 24th September, at the Old Fire Station Theatre, Gloucester Green, Oxford, starting at 7.30pm. The line-up also includes Soulburn and Andensum. Tickets are available from www.ticketmaster.co.uk and www.getlive.co.uk and are priced from
