Security advice at Service Station- Thame
THOSE stopping off at the Welcome Break Services near Thame today, Friday, will be able pick up Christmas crime reduction and safety advice.
Thames Valley Police will be at the service station from 10am till 3pm providing advice to Christmas shoppers about not leaving presents on display in houses and cars.
Crime reduction adviser Lesley Nesbitt, who will be attending the event, said: ?People can come and visit us at the services where we will be giving advice on car, mobile phone and laptop security.
?At this time of year people are buying lots of presents and storing them in their cars and homes.
?In the home, people should ensure they don?t leave presents under the Christmas tree where they can be seen from the outside. If presents are hidden in sheds or outbuildings, people should ensure that they are very secure. Make a note of serial numbers, makes and models and keep the receipt in a separate secure place.
?We ask people not to leave Christmas gifts unattended in their vehicles and car boots. Most thieves are opportunists and it only takes one item to be visible for them to smash and grab.
?People shouldn?t only think about crime reduction at this time of year, but throughout the year.?
