THAME company, Kidde Products, presented some very necessary equipment to Thame Fire Officers yesterday.
Station Officer, Andy Ford and Fire Officer Kirsten Purnell, received Two kit bags to carry vital Defibrillators to patients as part of the Fire and Ambulance services Co-responder scheme.
Brian Keeble, Marketing Services Supervisor at Kidde Products, also presented two Pulse Ox meters that clip on to a patient?s finger and give vital information about a patient?s pulse rate and oxygen levels in the blood, information that can tell whether the patient?s condition is deteriorating or improving.

Andy Ford told ThameNews.Net: ?These specially designed bags will enable us to stow our equipment in a much more convenient way and make it easier and quicker to access it in an emergency instead of having to fumble around in an ordinary holdall.?

Thame Fire Officers are currently attending around 150 incidents per year where there is risk to life, as part of the Co-responder scheme, when, because they are closer to the incident than an ambulance, they can get to the patient first, administer First Aid and then hand over to paramedics.

Kidde Products make fire fighting and fire protection equipment and received an emergency call just after 7am on the morning of the Hemel Hempstead Fuel storage depot explosion and fire, and supplied 600,000 litres of special foam concentrate to fire officers dealing with the emergency.
