THAME’S very own Stitch n’Bitch Club, the knitting craze that’s sweeping the world, has attracted the attention of the local media, featuring on Mix ’96 last Friday, throughout their afternoon news bulletins.
The group’s founder, Jeanette Matelot, was interviwed by the station and snippets of the conversation played over the airways. With clever editing and sound-bites like: “Swap your anger for Angorra,” listeners got a taste of the fun, relaxation and socialising (usually with a glass of wine at the elbow)that charactises these groups of stitchers. Through Jeanette’s fun-loving evangelising about the merits of sitting together with friends and creating something whilst at the same time, having a good old-fashioned chin-way, more and more people have contacted her about joining the group. And its not only women who have taken to the needles; at last night’s meeting at the Six Bells pub in Thame, which was interrupted by an evacuation of the premises when a fire alarm went off, the Deputy Manager, Michael had a go!

Anyone who would like more information about ‘Thame Twinset’ (the name reflects the origins of the group which began during a conversation among members of Thame’s Twinning Association), can contact Jeanette by email: jm@telot.wanadoo.co.uk
