Residents rally to Spring-clean the town
THE parish of Thame and Moreton this week is looking more spic and span than it has for a while, after residents, community groups and businesses joined forces over last weekend, in ‘arctic’ conditions to Clean For The Queen, Tidy Thame and Muck-out Moreton.
Large numbers of individuals, community groups and residents associations were involved, including The Air Cadets, Scouts, Guides and Brownies and the Youth Group from Thame Grace Church. South Oxfordshire District Council played its part in cleaning up the old Crendon Road. The idea was for as many people as possible to join in with litter picking, rubbish clearing, path tidying and any other tasks around Thame and Moreton that would help make them both cleaner and a nicer places to live.
Sue Martin Downhill, Chair of 21st Century Thame, was very happy with the response and commented: “A very big Thank You to all of you. I am so pleased that more groups are getting involved year on year, and this year I am delighted with the turn out and success of the event.
“Special thanks go to Biffa, UniCarriers UK, David Einig Contracting, M P Printers and Block 9 Display, Thame Fire and Rescue Service, ASM Auto Recycling, Thame Equipment Bank and Racquets Fitness Centre without whose practical help over the weekend the project could not have taken place.”
