Special Visitors To ThameNews.Net
THE ThameNews office welcomed some very special, young guests this week, and further fostered international links to the town and the website.
A group of 10 students from the Friedrich Ebert Gymnasium (Grammar School) in Bonn, Germany, came in to the news office in Upper High Street, to meet the Editor and learn how news is gathered and relationships with local advertisers and sponsors are built.
As well as the business and technical side of running a news website and Thame.net, the information website for Thame, the students learned about a day in the life of a website editor and the place of the websites in the community.
The students, most of who were staying with host families of pupils from Lord Williams’s school, had spent a very full week visiting Blenheim Palace, Warwick Castle, the Tower Bridge Experience in London, shopping in Oxford Street and a river trip on the Thames.
Accompanied by teachers Frau Judith Fehmer and Frau Beate Rosendahl, this was the 24th year of exchanges between Friedrich Ebert school and Lord William’s Upper school.
Plans are already underway for the next visit which will, of course, be extra special, making it a relationship that has lasted for a quarter of a century!
