THAME Town Cricket Club recently hosted the second Thame schools cricket tournament at Church Meadow. Supported by the School Games team in Oxford, and Oxfordshire Cricket Board, the competition saw over 100 children taking part, having a lot of fun and displaying some excellent cricket ability, which bodes well for the future.
The year 5/6 students represented six primary schools in the area – Aston Rowant, Mill Lane Community School in Chinnor, St Andrew’s Chinnor, St Joseph’s, Barley Hill and John Hampden. The competition provided opportunities for both boys and girls to compete. The winners of the girls’ competition were St Joseph’s and the boys’ winners were Mill Lane, Chinnor. Both schools will now go on to represent the Oxford City & Thame district in the county finals in July.
