THIS year, Christmas in Thame promises be a huge treat for everyone with more events planned than ever before, from glittering festival entertainment to Christmas shopping bargains galore!
The festive spirit begins with planning the present buying, and what better way to start than with the Christmas Craft Fair and Festive Cafe at the Thame Barns Centre, on November 24. Enjoy browsing lots of interesting local craft stalls to get those special Christmas presents. Relax with friends over a coffee and homemade cake or festive light lunch. 9.30am – 3.30 pm
Illuminating times !
On Friday, December 1, the whole town centre will light up, as the Mayor of Thame, with the help of the lucky winner of the Snowflake Search, presses the magic plunger to make it happen, at around 7pm.
But even before that, the fun will begin from 3.30pm, with rides and attractions for children, including Go-karts and a human-sized Snow Globe, as well as 40 food and gift stalls, hot food and drink – including the ever popular fresh crepes served by Thame’s friends from our twin town, Montesson.

Late Night Shopping
The following shops will be staying open late for the event, and have some exclusive offers on: Autoparts, Jack & Alice, Powder, Thame Jewellery Workshop, The Birdcage, Tilly Nilly and Wally’s Toy Shop.
Christmas Shopping Saturday
We all love our independent shops that give Thame high street such a special flavour, and they all deserve our support at this, their most important trading time of the year. On the Saturday, December 2, if you haven’t already, make sure you join the Facebook event for the Christmas Shopping Saturday event in Thame, and pick up a guide from the Town Hall or the Town Centre shops. The challenge is to do as much as your Christmas shopping in Thame, as you possible can. Remember: Shop Locally – Why? Because, did you realise that of every £1 you spend with a local, independent business, between 50p-70p circulates back into your local economy. Shopping locally supports local traders, their suppliers and the people they depend on to run their businesses. Buying locally boosts your local economy, rebuilding confidence in the community, enabling local businesses to prosper and grow. Here endeth the lesson….
Competitions!
Thame’s local radio station, Red Kite Radio, and one of the event sponsors Sportif Citroen, will both be running competitions at the event, with prizes including afternoon tea at Haddenham Garden Centre, an MOT and a voucher for the House of Spice. And watch out for special posters in participating shops, with details of a ‘selfie’ challenge, inviting you take a picture with your special buy from one of the shops offering special deals, post it on social media and win yourself shopping vouchers.
And while we’re talking ‘digital’, make sure you use the #hashtag #ChristmasInThame wherever you’re sharing festive events, facebook and instagram posts from now until Christmas.
The sponsors for this year’s Thame Christmas event are sponsors ASM Auto Recycling, Kubota, Sportif Citroen, Lucy Electric, JJ Plumbing & Heating, 3B Vehicle Hire, Thame & District Housing Association and Windles Group, without whom it wouldn’t happen!
There’s more!
On Sunday, December 3, it’ll be ‘Ready, Set, Go! for the popular Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity Festive Fun Run in Thame on Sunday, December 3, at 10am. Dress to be festive and bring the whole family for this get-together on the hoof in aid of Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity, supported by Thame Lions.
