New Plan For Cattlemarket Move To Be Submitted
A revised plan to move Thame’s Cattlemarket is to be submitted within the next couple of weeks.
Bob Williams, the Developer and brain-child behind the plan to move the cattlemarket to the Thame Show Ground on the outskirts of the town, told ThameNews.Net that his amended plan includes more Landscape work and that he is hopeful that Thame Town Council will support his proposals.
The council recommended refusal of the plan four or five months ago, when some councillors expressed concern about the possibility of increased traffic at peak times on the thame By-pass.
Bob Williams however, re-itterated today that traffic counts carried out by the local Highways authority, showed that the peak of cattlemarket traffic was not the same as that experienced by residents of Lee Park, which includes Cllrs Don Butler and Nigel Champken-Woods, around 8am in the morning. (They voted against the plan)
Cllr David Dodds expressed his concern at the first consideration of the proposal, that the proposed agricultural building on the the show ground would be seen from the Scotsgrove area.
Supporters of the scheme say that the move will ensure a more stable future for the Thame show and provide much needed increased space for the cattlemarket.
Several organisations in the town are hopeful that if the current cattlemarket site is vacated, a much needed community facility could be built there.
