THE following is the latest update provided by Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Diane Greenwood:
IN Thame we have had a fairly busy month. We have arrested two youths for criminal damage in the area and, while out on patrol in Thame, PCSO Jackson saw two offenders shop lifting, who were later arrested.

On a positive note a ten-year-old had their pushbike returned to them after it was stolen. PCSO Jackson managed to identify the thieves who eventually returned the bike.

PCSO Dan Tucker responded to a call from a resident of Roundhead Drive reporting that mini motorbikes were being driven on the recreation ground at the skate park. On approaching the area he could see a number of bikes on the playing fields too. The offenders saw him and then rode away. With the help of other local neighbourhood officers we found and dealt with 12 people and issued four, Section 59 warnings. This means that they will be placed on Police National Computer for the next twelve months. If the rider or machine comes to the attention of the police again then there is the real risk of the machine being seized and crushed; the rider would then face the prospect of a fine and possible court action.

The neighbourhood policing team in Chinnor are pleased to report that anti-social behaviour around the area reduced significantly during the school holidays. This is due to robust action and an on-going, pro-active approach to dealing with anti-social behaviour. We have worked with the council and the local community to ensure that Chinnor is a safe place to be.

Pubwatch is now fully up and running in Chinnor, with the second meeting taking place on the 8 September. We are looking to add further pubs to the scheme in the coming months. The scheme is designed for pubs to work together with the police and their licensing team, South Oxfordshire District Council and Oxfordshire County Council to promote safe drinking, with the licensee having a central role.

Towersey Festival took place over the August bank holiday which the neighbourhood policing team attended each day. The weather was good and the attendance was very high, over 2,500 people camping and over 1,500 visitors every day. There were a few minor incidents, which were dealt with promptly by the police.

Yesterday, September 22, PCSO Jackson was due to chair a neighbourhood consultation meeting in Sydenham at the Old School Hall.
