What are your community space needs in Thame?
A THAME group is working with South Oxfordshire District Council to review community facilities available in the town.
In response to an offer from CMAG (Cattlemarket Action Group) to help SODC identify whether there is a need for more community facilities in Thame, Matt Prosser, SODC’s Strategic Director, said that the South Oxfordshire market town action plan for Thame had highlighted the council’s intention to carry out an audit of community facilities in Thame and that SODC’s economic development team would be undertaking this work in-house.
The council intends to contact all community groups using community space in Thame to establish whether their needs are currently being met and to contact the venue providers in order to assess whether there is any spare capacity within the town and if it could be used more effectively.
Helena Richards, spokesperson for CMAG, said: “We want to ask people to come forward with any examples of need for community space. We don’t want SODC to just look at what’s going on now, but the lost
POTENTIAL for events that don’t have a venue.”
Local people or groups who have a need for community space can contact CMAG at thamecmag@yahoo.co.uk
Matt Prosser told CMAG that SODC intends to send out a questionnaire to each organisation CMAG identifies in the town, and to carry out a survey electronically.
