01/06/11…Help needed with fire alarms
Dear Editor, My wife and I, combined age 149, have just spent a precarious 30 minutes replacing a faulty smoke alarm. The combination of agility, balance, dexterity and good eyesight needed for this simple task does not come easily to our age group. I think I read years ago on your site that the Fire Brigade can help older people with this task if they need it.
I don?t think we would have felt we could ring up and ask for such assistance but maybe some charity within the town would have some suggestions. The smoke alarms are very effective though. They always warn me even if the toast is slightly overdone. And ours, may I reassure you, is up and bleeping now.
