THE Thame Boys, Youth & Girls Festival of Football 2012, held over the weekend at the ASM Thame football stadium, has been hailed a ‘resounding success’ by its hosts.

Over 4,500 attended the two-day tournament, sponsored by ASM, made possible by an army of volunteers, parents, managers, coaches, referees, first aiders, staff and supporters. Over the two days, 600 plus matches took place and with over 1,600 players taking part, a massive operation was put to the test and a really slick and professional tournament was the outcome.

“There was a tremendous team spirit throughout the weekend which was reflected by feedback from many of the visiting teams about the event being the best they attend,” said Spokesman, Frank Thompson.

“With the semi finals and finals played on the main ASM Stadium pitch, and presentation of trophies made ‘Wembley Style’ in the main stand, the players had a great time collecting their medals.”

Mick Ramage, Manager of Launton Boys Under 13s commented: “I would just like to say ‘thanks’ for another excellent tournament. We have played in your event every year for the last six years and it is easily the friendliest and best organised tournament we enter. it was even better this year as we managed to get to the final! Please pass on our thanks to everyone who helped to put on the tournament.”

“The Tournament and venue has very quickly established itself as the best in the area and the challenge for the organising committee is to better the event next year,” continued Frank.”

Thame Boys, Youth & Girls currently run 23 teams from Under 6 – Under 18 and will be introducing further new teams next Season. Anyone interested in joining the club, can contact Frank: frank.thompson@thamefootball.co.uk
