THE future progress of the Thame Youth Memorial Garden looks set fair after a lucky black cat passed through, just as a time capsule was being buried this morning.

After several weeks of delay awaiting delivery of paving slabs from India, doing the honours was TYM committee member, Iain Biddle of Thame Round Table, who have been instrumental in raising funds for the scheme.

On a grey, murky morning, the rain stopped just long enough for two members of the Contractor, Stuart Barr’s team to finish digging the hole ready for the capsule to be interred.

Among the capsule’s contents are pictures of Thame life taken by local people, including interiors of homes and shops. Everything has been recorded on a hard drive donated by CAAOS, Thame.

The TYM will be a place for reflection and remembrance for the friends and relatives of the young people of Thame and the surrounding area who’s lives were tragically cut short. It will be officially opened on September 29, by the Mayor of Thame. (Postponed from September 8, due to a delay in delivery of materials).

Currently the project needs to raise at least another £8500, but a series of fund-raising events coming up in the town should help towards that target:

Coming up soon is an 80s Disco on September 6, at the Spread Eagle Hotel. Tickets are £17.50 each, and include a buffet. This will be limited to 160 seats, half of which have alrady been sold so pop along to Fore Golf in the Buttermarket, and Wallace’s Home Boutique in Cornmarket, for tickets.

Enquiries by email for this and any TYM event to tymevents2013@gmail.com.

Later on in September Sue Boyle will be organising one of her now famous quiz nights at Barley Hill School.

Donations can be made by texting ‘TYMM03 £5’    to 70070- the amount though can be whatever anyone likes.
