The future of Pubwatch will be discussed at a special conference in High Wycombe next Wednesday,April 6.

The conference, called ?Pubwatch: The Future?, has been organised to address issues raised by the introduction of the Licensing Act 2003.
The new legislation has introduced significant changes to the way premises that sell and supply alcohol to the public are licensed.

The conference will provide a forum to examine, debate and clarify issues surrounding the new legislation, so people in the industry can work in partnership to put successful strategies in place for implementing and conforming to the requirements of the new law. It will also include workshops on topics such as forming a Pubwatch, designed to encourage non members to join.

Representatives from Thames Valley Police, National Pubwatch, The Home Office and Yates pub company will all be present and some will address the conference.

Speakers include Justice of the Peace Phil Garside, who will give a talk about exclusion orders; Simon Leach from the Home Office, who will speak about an alcohol misuse enforcement programme and Thames Valley Police Assistant Chief Constable Mick Page, who is the last speaker of the day and will make some closing remarks.

The venue for the event, which has been jointly organised by The John Grieve Centre for Policing and National Pubwatch, will be The John Grieve Centre for Policing and Community Safety at Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College in High Wycombe, from 10am to 4.15pm.
