Pool Managers To Review Life Guard Training
SOLL Leisure, which runs Thame’s Jubilee swimming pool, must review “on-going lifeguard training” at the Thame pool, according to an Improvement Notice served on it by South Oxfordshire District Council.
However, both the district council and Thame Town Council, which owns the pool, insist that until an investigation into the drowning of a young boy at the pool last July, has been completed, it cannot yet be established that the serving of the notice and Nathan Matthews’s death, are linked.
Thame’s Town Clerk, Helen Stewart, told ThameNews.Net, that in her opinion, if the Health and Safety Executive, who are carrying out the investigation, had any concerns about the safety of Thame pool, they would have closed it down before now.
N.B. The small swimming pool at Thame Leisure Centre will be closed all day on Tuesday 12 April for essential repairs. For further information, please call 01844 215607.
(These repairs having nothing to do with the improvement notice, but are part of necessary, on-going maintenance work.)
