Lone Star Prize For Sue
THE special prize for the Carnival’s ‘Lone Star’, a single person who is judged to have done the most to contribute to the carnival, was awarded to Sue Boyle of Thame.
As well as being a very popular Quiz Mistress(?), Sue was the chant leader who trained the Barley Hill contestants who achieved second prize in the Walking category.
The Barley Hill team represented the football teams,
‘Charities United’. Sue shouted “Charities United” which the team chanted back, followed by “One World, One Goal, Make Poverty History.”
They then went into their special G8 song to the tune of ‘Daisy Daisy’ along the lines of:
“G8 G8
give us your answer do
Africa is starving
What are we going to do?
Come on lets double the aid
So people aren’t afraid
Let’s drop the debt
Make all trade fair
And make poverty history.”
