Prepare for the heatwave!
AS a heatwave is forecast to hit the country from tomorrow (Tuesday 30/06), and temperatures in the South due to reach 32 deg C, a health alert has been issued with advise on how to stay safe and particularly, how to look out for the very young, the elderly and those with heart and respiratory illnesses.
The main advise is to keep windows closed and curtains shut during the heat of the day, to drink plenty of liquids, particularly water or squash (not tea, coffee and alcohol), protect children from the sun, wear a hut, and avoid going out in the heat of the day, between 11am and 3pm.
Full details of the alert and advise can be read on the NHS Choices website here: http://www.nhs.uk/Livewell/Summerhealth/Pages/Heatwave.aspx
