Theatre Rings To The Sound Of Music
THAME Players Theatre rang to the ‘sound of music’ recently, when the audience dressed as assorted characters from the film of that name, threw themselves into their roles and sang along to all the well-known songs from the cinema classic.
The evening, organised by Thame Cinema 4 All, was supported by people of all ages, from younger children dressed as cats and snowflakes, (with reference to the rousing ‘These are a few of my favourite things’), to grown up men dressed as Captain Von Trapp in hats with feathers and shorts. One of TC4A’s committee members turned out in a splendid smoking jacket and cravat and a Haddenham resident wore his father’s Naval cap. Two glamourous Countesses, complete with long cigarette holders, several Marias in big hats (one carrying an authentic carpet bag), and a human brown paper package (minus the string)which rustled in the background, all contributed to a very entertaining evening.
All the money raised from the evening went to a centre for the homeless in Oxford.
