THAME Town Council’s Investment Portfolio has taken a hit recently, following the Euro crisis with Greece.

At a meeting of the town council on Tuesday (July 22), members heard how the council’s investment savings had dropped last quarter prior to the election. Cllr David Dodds however, was up-beat about the news and said: “We hope that it will now bounce back.” He added that in his view, Rathbones, who look after the town council’s investment port folio, “..have done a good job overall; we are now back where we were in 2011, to just below £2 million.”

The drop in 2011 was the result of a withdrawal from the fund to purchase the town council’s new Depot. A summary of the council’s Portfolio Performance can be read here:

THE Thame kebab van, operated by Atalay & Sons family for 27 years, is to be replaced by a bespoke trailer to improve working conditions by increasing the cooking area, storage, serving area and increase refrigeration units. The proposed replacement trailer will be 30ft in length, 8ft in depth and 10ft high, including 4ft of storage space. But, the purposed built trailer, which has been authorised by the town council with whom Mr Atalay has a trading agreement and pays rent, will not be ready until April 2016.

THE OPEN DOORS event held recently in Thame town centre to show off the facilities and services offered by some of the larger employers in the town, has been deemed such a success that it is intended to hold an ‘bigger and better’ event next year by the Thame Business Forum, with the support of the town council.

seans_choice_crendon_bedsTHAME TOWN COUNCIL is keen that more local people become aware of the existance of the Thame Welfare Trust, which helps people in need who live in Thame and immediately adjoining villages, who may be in financial need, gain access to welfare benefits, charitable grants and other financial help.

The charity provides help and advise online, via the website, by phone and face to face, mainly through social workers, probation officers, teachers, or a similar third party but also directly by the applicant. 1. You need to sort this out with Toogle and Turn2Us, because if people google ‘Thame Welfare Trust’ these are the sites people are directed to. The web is where people seek information these days. Perhaps it would be better if you had your own webite to explain what you do and who you are etc. The point some of the councillors keep making whenever Thame Welfare Trust comes up, is that very few people know of its existence nor what the organisation does. http://tiny.cc/axb70x

  2. Thame Welfare Trust is STRICTLY limited to the people of Thame
The remit is ‘for the relief of the poor and needy in the Parish of Thame. ‘ Help and advise is NOT available on line and this website has not been set up by Thame Welfare Trust
