THAME Town Cricket Club secured the Cherwell League division One title at the meadow this week after beating second place Great Brickhill by 69 runs leaving Thame 53 points in the lead with only 50 left to play for.
Both sides have been in amazing form this year winning 10 games each. Brickhill won the toss and elected to bowl and Thame produced a decent batting display with M Higgs (30) W Sutcliffe (40) H Garg (48) and J Adams (35) all making contributions. At one point Thame looked on for 300 but Iqbal John and Ahad Khan took 3 wickets each to reduce Thame to a competitive 227 for 9.
In response Thame produced another amazing display with the ball and in the field. J McPhee took 3, M Higgs took 3 and H Mushtaq took 4 as Thame bowled Great Brickhill out for 169. A fine performance in front of a big crowd meant Thame secured the league at the meadow in fitting style.
