The Queens Road green opens on Wednesday, April 13, for Roll-Ups and on Saturday, April 16, for an Opening Day Competition. If you haven’t already tried your hand at this wonderful sport which combines gentle exercise with fresh air and gives you the opportunity to meet lots of people with similar interests, why not go along to one of the Open Evenings?

“Thame Bowls Club prides itself on being a friendly club and welcomes both experienced and new Bowlers,” explained Club Secretary, Vic brooks. Two more Open Evenings are planned for the end of May (25 and 31) to go along to and have a go. Watch this space for more details over the next few weeks.

Continued Vic: “During the past five years, Thame Bowls Club has increased its membership by over 60% and the 120 plus members range from teenagers to octogenarians. All enjoy the social as well as competitive side of this great sport. Thame’s youngsters have already represented Oxfordshire Under 21s at County level and Thame Men’s League Team are hoping to win promotion from Division three of the Oxford & District Bowls League.

“Thame Ladies went through the whole of last season losing just one game and were runners-up in the County Top Club competition, a competition that they have won three times in the last five years.”
