THAME Library is hosting a special discussion on crime books as part of a summer celebration of reading aimed at encouraging visitors to share their favourite tales of the unexpected.

This year’s summer reading challenge, Oxfordshire Reads, will tackle the themes of “Hidden Depths” and “Eureka” – talking about books which are not always as they seem and those which feature a sudden moment of revelation.

The event at Thame Library, which takes place on Friday, August 4, at 2.30 pm, is free to attend – just contact local library staff for a ticket.

Events across Oxfordshire will include talks, quizzes and social media discussions urging readers to recommend this summer’s hottest thrillers, journeys of discovery, or twisting tales of deceit.

Visitors to all 43 of the county council’s libraries will also be encouraged to enter a prize draw by writing on postcards about the books they love. Prizes include tickets for Blenheim Palace, Cotswold Wildlife Park, Roald Dahl Museum, Oxford Ice Rink, Waterperry Gardens, Wychwood Brewery, Didcot Railway Centre and the Randolph Hotel.

Oxfordshire Reads kicks off this Saturday (8 July) and runs until 9 September.
