Thame Restaurant Is Blessed
A THAME restaurant received a very special blessing this afternoon, when three Buddhist monks visited to help bring good luck and prosperity to its new extension.
Cross-legged on the floor of the new extention to the Pad Thai restaurant at The Rising Sun in Thame’s High Street, the monks chanted and burned a candle into a copper bowl of water, to trap all the good feelings in the room and around the world.
The three monks came from the Amaravati Buddhist Centre near Hemel Hempstead.
Attending the ceremony were the Managers of the Rising Sun, Jay Phanthamat and Patsy Kansikam, other members of the staff and their children and Jeremy Coulton and collegues from Brakspear, the owners of The Rising Sun.
After blessing a variety of dishes, the three monks, who are not allowed to ask for food or shop for it, accepted the food for themselves and ate it.
