A major new initiative designed to improve access to, and appreciation of, the Oxford Green Belt has been launched by CPRE Oxfordshire today, with the help of Boris Johnson MP.
After keeping waiting dignitaries and school children waiting, Boris eventually arrived and his car was surrounded by photographers from most of the national papers, more interested in whether or not he will stand for Mayor of London, than celebrating the 75th birthday of the Campaign for the Protection of Rural England.
One intrepid local radio station reporter braved the jostling and bad language to speak to Boris who said: “It is absolutely vital that the green belt is protected. The whole of Oxfordshire is incredibly vulnerable because of people wanting to get high prices for their land from developers.”
Boris would not however, been drawn on what his decision will be on whether or not to stand against Ken Livingstone, saying only: “Time will tell.”
