Armed robbery in Wheatley
A member of staff at a Wheatley store was hit over the head with a weapon yesterday (09/09) when he refused to hand over cash to an armed robber.
The Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident that happened at around 7pm, when a man walked into Londis in the High Street, Wheatley, and threatened the member of staff with what was believed to be a handgun.
After injuring the man, the robber stole a small amount of cash. The victim was taken to the JR2 where he received treatment to a head wound.
The offender is described as white, in his mid twenties and wearing dark clothing.
Det Insp Simon Morton, leading the investigation, said: “We are linking this incident to the robbery at the BP Garage in Marston on Friday evening and we are also keeping an open mind as to whether they are linked to the other armed robberies that took place in Oxford in December and January.
“I would like to reassure the public that we have a number of officers dedicated to this investigation and a lot of work is being carried out to track down and arrest the person responsible.”
