M40 reopened after fatal accident (Status: Press release)
THE M40 motorway has now reopened following a collison earlier today (3/6/09)in which a lorry driver died.
The collision occurred around 5.43am, between junctions 10 and 9 on the southbound carriageway of the M40 and involved two articulated lorries and a van. The driver of one of the lorries died and two other drivers suffered shock but did not require hospital treatment.
Police officers worked closely with the Fire Service who had to assess oxy-acetylene cylinders that may have become unstable on one of the vehicles. The primary concern was public safety and the safety of the emergency services working at the scene.
