Warning to Land Rover drivers
THE Police have warned residents to take extra security precautions following an increase in the thefts of Land Rovers in the last couple of weeks.
Overnight on July 4 and 5, 2009, two Land Rovers were stolen from addresses in Woodcote and Horspath. During the night of the July 21 and 22, a Land Rover was stolen from Steventon and a Land Rover Defender taken from an address in Chinnor.
Four spare wheels were also stolen from the back of Landrover Freelanders. The offences all happened in Grove on the night of July 18 and 19.
Det Insp Kev Elkins has urged motorists in the area to take precautions. He said:
“Car crime can cost the victim a huge amount of money. But, through higher insurance premiums, these crimes affect all motorists.
“To minimise the risk to a vehicle, motorists should fit steering wheel locks, immobilisers and, when possible, park in well-lit areas.
“I would also urge anyone who might have information to help with our enquiries to contact us.”
Anyone with any information should contact PC Jon Axford at Abingdon police station via 0845 8 505 505, or if you don?t want to talk to the police or give your name, call the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
