Jobs for locals at new Thame store
SAINSBURY’S will open the doors to its new store in Thame tomorrow, Wednesday 10th March 2010. The store, which stands on the site of the town?s old Woolworths, has created 80 new jobs ? all of which have gone to local people.
The Mayor of Thame, Jeannette Matelot Green, will will cut the ribbon to officially open the supermarket at 9am.
Adding a sense of theatre to the day will be the Thame Lions club. The Lions have worked closely with the new store to set up a Sainsbury?s Sport Relief Mile in the town on Sunday, March 21. Runners and walkers from Thame will be joining thousands of people from all over the country to raise funds for Sport Relief.
Store Manager, Jason Merrett, said: ?There?s been a real buzz in the town around the opening of the new Thame Sainsbury?s and my colleagues and I are all very excited about opening and getting to know our new customers. Working with the Lions on the Sport Relief Mile has given us all a taste of what can be achieved through pulling together with our community.
