Labour candidate ‘saddened’ by Gordon Brown announcement
THE Henley Constituency Labour candidate in the recent general election, told Thamenews.net today how he felt at hearing the news of Gordon Brown’s departure as the leader of his party.
Richard McKenzie, who is at home with his foot in plaster after breaking his foot on election day, said this afternoon: “I am saddened by the announcement that Gordon Brown has decided to resign as the Leader of the Labour Party.
“Mr Brown it seems has decided that it is time to go. It is now time to begin to reflect on what he has achieved. He had created a stable economy which was able to cope with the economic shocks of the last 18 months and is now starting to sucessfully emerge from recession. We must also remember that Mr Brown led a party which defied expectations on Thursday and prevented the Tories gaining an overall majority.
“Having met Gordon I am proud to have stood as Labour candidate under his leadership and I wish him well.”
