THE founder member of Thame’s nationally acclaimed family butchers, died yesterday while on holiday.

Michael Newitt, who in 1965 with his wife, Susan started the business in the seventeenth century butcher’s shop on the High Street, Thame, was on holiday in Antigua when he died

The family business he founded, M. Newitt & Sons, has since grown into a nationally renowned food producer, achieving numerous awards and accolades, including the Britain’s Best Butcher’s Shop Award, just weeks ago.
