07/3/12….Town council says “No” to Sainsbury’s
AT a special meeting tonight, called for the whole of Thame Town Council to consider plans for a supermarket on the Cattlemarket site, Sainsbury’s proposals were unanimously rejected.
Nine local people, including Residents’ Association reps, business representatives, residents and Community group leaders, spoke against the planning application whilst three speakers, including two representing Sainsburys themselves, spoke in support of the plans.
But those against the plans won the night, and the application must now go before South Oxfordshire District Council’s Planning committee for the final say, sometime in early April.
