12/06/12….’Green spaces in Thame not good enough’
THAME residents are being urged to have their say about the town?s green spaces. A new group established to promote Thame?s natural environment is urging local residents to respond to the latest consultation on the town?s draft Neighbourhood Plan, and help shape the final plan which will be voted on next year.
Wild About Thame is an informal group of local people all with a strong interest in wildlife and green spaces. It believes that the plan being put forward for consultation does not have enough emphasis on providing high quality green spaces for wildlife and people across the town. The group also feels that there is also little mention of improving walking and cycling links so that residents can access the town centre and the surrounding countryside easily.
Wild About Thame says: “With a planned 15-20% increase in Thame?s population over the coming years, the provision of natural green breathing spaces for local people is more important than ever.” The group wants local residents to have their say on the Town Council?s preferred option for the Neighbourhood Plan and to include additional comments if they are keen to see better and more green spaces. Responses must be made by June 22, at the latest.
Residents can respond to the consultation by using the form currently being delivered to their homes, or by visiting LINK to download the plan and the form, or byvisiting the town hall to pick up a leaflet.
