18/12/12….Christmas chocolate amnesty for health conscious residents
THE people of Thame, Aylesbury and Oxford are being encouraged to lighten their stockings this festive season and trade in their excess chocolates for a workout.
George Anderson from George?s Boot Camp is spearheading the campaign that encourages local people to donate any unwanted or excess sweets, chocolates or other goodies to charity.
The treats can be handed in between December 27 and January 2 and they will then be distributed to two charities early in the New Year.
Amnesty organiser George Anderson says: ?The idea is that we shouldn’t eat sweets and chocolates just for the sake of it. Moderation is fine but everybody has an excess of treats at Christmas and it can be really unhealthy to eat large amounts of these foods.
?By giving them away we are saving calories and by having a workout instead we are burning calories, so it?s a win-win situation.
?The chocolate amnesty helps everyone. The children at Helen and Douglas House in Oxford and the homeless of Aylesbury benefit by getting some unexpected gifts and the donators can get healthier as a result.”
If you want to make a donation, the amnesty is running from December 27 to January 2, and details of the donation points in Thame, Oxford and Aylesbury are available on www.georgesbootcamp.co.uk/amnesty
