THAME residents may have noticed a lot of pavement digging activity recently – even in the rain workmen were seen cutting disc-shaped pieces out of paving slabs and inserting round, bronze coloured, engraved discs into the holes.

The mystery is solved. For the Waymarkers, all placed near an historic landmark, are all part of a project initiated by the 21st Century Thame Partnership’s, SEEDA projects, which included a series of historic Blue Plaques recently unveiled.

Each of the Waymarkers is numbered and corresponds to a place of historical interest in Thame, in an Historic Town Trail leaflet
