THE waiting is over for this year’s A level students at Lord Williams’s school, Thame, this morning and there was a mixture of nervousness and excitement as A level results were revealed. There was much to celebrate as out of the 644 entries, the pass rate rose to 98%, with 48% of grades at A*, A or B level.

Headteacher, David Wybron, paid tribute to the achievements of this year’s cohort: “It is a great pleasure to celebrate with our students and to congratulate them on their achievements. We have talented, hard working students at Lord Williams’s and very dedicated teaching and support staff teams; that combination is a key reason why there are so many smiling and happy faces today among students, staff and parents.”

The following students achieved A* or A grades in three or more subjects: Iona Caseby, Sarah Dore, Christopher Kew, Chris Leaney, Cameron McGarry, Caitlin Stanway-Williams, Hattie Bailey, Jessica Ballantine, Layla Batchellier, Tanya Batchellier, Sophie Crowe, Matthew Faulkner, Jamie Goetz, Hilary Goode, Emma Hornett, James Myerson, Alice Niedzielski and Emma Pearce.

Iona, Cameron, Chris, Jamie and Emma (Hornett) will be taking up their places at Oxford and Iona and Chris are recipients of New College bursaries. Sarah will be taking up her place at Cambridge.

Kate Sheehan, Head of Sixth Form, was also delighted with the results: “This cohort has had a very positive impact on the life of the whole school and not just the Sixth Form. It is very pleasing to see so many of them achieving the grades they need for the next stage in their education or employment. They will certainly make a big impression wherever the next stage of their journey takes them.”
