19/08/13 Thame man convicted of driving & drug offences
A 25-year-old Thame man, arrested after driving erratically along Thame Road, Longwick, has pleaded guilty to driving and drug offences.
Ian Field of Horton Avenue, Thame, was sentenced at Wycombe Magistrates’ Court last Monday (12/8) for one count of driving while unfit through drugs and a further count of being in possession of class C controlled drug, Ketamine.
He is to be electronically tagged until November 11, 2013, and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £60 and costs of £135. Field has also been disqualified from driving for 24 months.
On the morning of his arrest, August 29, 2012, at 7.10am, Field was reported to police having been spotted driving erratically by a police officer on his way to work. When stopped by roads policing officers, he failed a field impairment test and was found with Ketamine in his possession.
On arrest and testing, his blood was found to contain Ketamine at a concentration of 0.37 milligrams per litre and Norketamine at a concentration of 1.2 milligrams per litre.
Roads policing officer, PC Kay Dickinson said: “Roads policing officers are trained to deal with drivers who are impaired by drugs and will deal with them robustly. If members of the public suspect anyone of driving while unfit through drink or drugs, they should contact the police immediately.”
