A GROUP of artists from Thame will be exhibiting their latest works on the theme of food, at a Thame cafe, and the town Mayor will be helping them to launch ‘Eating Our Words’ to coincide with the Thame Food Festival.

The Mayor of Thame, Clllr Peter Lambert will open the exhibition by Sparksartists upstairs in Time Out Café, 12 High Street, Thame, at 3pm on September 25, during a private viewing to invited guests.

The exhibition will be open to the public and will run from Saturday, September 21, to Saturday, October 5, during the normal café opening hours (closed Sundays).

Sparksartists formed as a registered charity in 2001 with a common commitment to otheir work as individual visual artists but also with a desire to collaborate and share ideas and experiences. They work in a range of media from Printmakers and Painters to Textile Artists and meet regularly in Thame.

They have been running The Big Draw an international scheme to encourage people to draw, in Thame every year since 2007, for which they won a ‘drawing inspiration’ prize.

Maryl Bird, one of the Sparksartists, explained: “Some of the work exhibited will be for sale, and along with selling work, we hope to raise the profile of Sparksartists within the local community.”
