FIRE Officers based at Thame, along with Brigade colleagues throughout Oxfordshire, held a two minutes silence this morning out of respect for their New York counterparts who died after the 9/11 attack on the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001.

Officer Andy Ford has particular memories of that time, having met officers from one of Ladder Brigades involved in saving lives and fighting fires on that fateful day. Andy and fellow fire officer, Mark O’Connor, helped to raise funds in Thame and took a plaque bearing The Fireman’s Prayer, over to New York the following month and presented it to the Ladder Brigade from the people of Thame.
