Home based businesses take advantage of new hub
MORE than 20 home-based, local businesses took advantage of a new ‘homeworkers hub’ which met for the first time in Didcot this month.
The hub was launched by South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse District Councils following research by Oxfordshire Rural Community Council which identified that isolation can be a key factor in the failure of small businesses.
The first meeting took place at Cornerstone in Didcot on Wednesday (11/09), when the group met to share experiences of working at home and to launch a new self support network.
In a joint statement, the two district councils said: “A large number of highly skilled businesses choose to work from home as it gives them the flexibility in organising their business time and family time. However it also brings with it downsides to overcome, such as loneliness and isolation. These businesses may also need some business support or simply someone to bounce ideas off, and the homeworkers’ hub was set up with the aim of providing just that.”
