A group concerned about future energy security, based in Haddenham, is celebrating after it was awarded a grant of £3000 to buy equipment to do ‘air tightness’ testing to improve insulation in local homes.
Essentially this is a high tech way of identifying areas in rooms where improved draught proofing would reduce energy bills.
Haddenham Transition spokesperson, Robin Aitcheson, explained: “We are proposing to offer this as a service to local householders with a particular emphasis on households on low incomes and the elderly. We need volunteers to help with this project. Any help would be gratefully received – even just a few hours at some time in the next few months.”
