Pizzas are typically made with a flour base covered in tomato sauce and cheese.
But a lot of people have different dietary requirements or tastes, so what if you could use something else?
Or you have odd bits to use up in the cupboard, lots of people coming over, are looking for something to inspire you or entertain your children. It could be that you simply don’t have pizza bases pre-made and have very little time?

Pizza Bases

You can use a pre-made pizza base, which you can often keep in your freezer or make your own, with the usual mix with flour or use something different like polenta, cauliflower or even simply by using puff pastry. You could try something more adventurous that may be a lot quicker, easier and might help use up some things that may need using sooner than others.
You can even use bread that isn’t mouldy but might be a little dry or stale, if you dampen it a bit and reheat it, it can often re-soften the inside of the breaded product.

Why not try some of the following options to apply your pizza toppings too?

Flatbread
Wraps
Baguette
Tortillas
Pitta bread
Naan bread
Crumpets
Muffin bun
Bagel
French toast
Rice cake

Pizza Toppings

These pizzas would be great to lay out at parties, a sleepover or even something to set out for your children to design and create their own mini pizzas. It may even encourage some people to try new foods, if you make a display with lots of ingredients for them to try and to add, you may even find a new mix and creation you love!

Depending on the base you might like to choose different toppings, usually starting with a sauce to help the toppings stay in place, the usual being tomato sauce but you could use bbq, pesto or even fresh yoghurt.
