The best thing about animal rescues is they take in many animals whether they come in as their owners move abroad, their circumstances change or sadly even their loving owners might have even passed away.
The Oxfordshire Animal Sanctuary, like many others, thankfully never puts a healthy animal down and even work with behaviourists to help tackle some of the issues some of the animals may come in with. Many issues are sadly down to the animal feeling fearful or due to high anxiety, so hopefully with a bit of love, care and understanding they would settle into their new homes. Some of the animals when they are first found have been abandoned and haven’t even had a chance at knowing what a family is, so you could make that massive difference and give them that special place to call home.
Annual Fun day
The Oxfordshire Animal Sanctuary is just one of the local rescues in the area. They would love for you to come along to their big annual fun day this coming weekend. If you are a keen baker they would also appreciate donations of homemade goods to sell which would go towards raising more funds for the charity. If you could drop them over ready for their sale on Sunday 19th May 2024 that would be fantastic. Or maybe you’d like to go along and buy some delicious bakes and support a great cause!
The event is happening from 1.30pm to 4pm at their Sanctuary at the Village Green in Stadhampton, it is free to park and there is no entry fee but donations are of cause greatly received. There will be lots to see and do, from Children’s games, a tombola, food and soft drinks available, ice cream, tea, coffee and cake tent.
Sadly the animals are no longer viewable on Fun days due to the added stress it can cause them, with a higher volume of people around and of course the well-being of the animals is the sanctuary’s priority.
April 2024 Success
April saw them say goodbye to 58 animals, sending them off to new pastures. 37 of which were cats and kittens you can find out more about Aprils adoption on their May update post.
Donations
Before donating to a charity many people understandably want to know where their donation goes and what it helps towards. This is what the sanctuary do well by displaying it all on their website, you can check their chart on their Where does your donation go 2024 on their website or view via the PDF file.
Donations can come in many different forms; occasionally they might need some more volunteers, so you could volunteer your time to help with the cleaning tasks and walking of the dogs. These roles are usually 8.30am-11am and you can register your interest via their volunteer form.
You can donate items and/or bakes for their events, sales and prizes for their tombolas, or even just donating old towels and items they may be able to use for the animals at the sanctuary, if you no longer need them.
They value every penny they receive in donations and it directly impacts the animals welfare, they do appreciate the kindness and generosity of those who donate. Currently they have around 1900 amazing monthly donors and fantastic sponsors but sadly that isn’t enough to cover their costs. With around 70- 100 animals a day to care for and them rehoming around 500 pets a year, it can take its toll on funds.
You can become a monthly donor or you are welcome to supply a one off donation or you can enter your own chosen amount. There are lots of other things you can do to help, loads to look through on their website.
